Hi Terri. Thank you for your work. I am hoping you can read my symptoms and give your opinion. On July 1, I received protected oral sex and performed insertive sex from behind with a (pre-op) trans woman. There was about a 30 second period in between the oral and insertive sex where she kind of sat on and grinded her parts against mine. I wore a condom for the entire sexual encounter but she did not. The condom stayed on well and did not break. She says she does not have HSV but I don’t believe she really knows and has declined going to get tested.
5 days from (possible) exposure I developed tingling in my thighs, hips. and upper hamstrings. 7 days from exposure I went to urgent care to do a blood test and be physically examined. The doctor said I don’t have any markings that resemble herpes and she was not concerned with the tingling, instead diagnosing me with anxiety, which I do have. The igg test came back negative but no specific value was given. All other STDs came back negative as well.
Days 10 and 11 my tingling began fading from my legs and hips and moved more to my feet. I also found myself having to shift my groin/pants throughout these days as if there was something going on down there. Day 12 I didn’t really have any symptoms and since day 13 my only symptoms have been tingling in my feet.
Today is day 17 and no lesions have developed. I haven’t experienced flu like symptoms and my temperature has been normal throughout. Feet still tingle especially when I am in bed. I’ve been extremely distraught over this as I thought I was being safe.
1. I am nearly 100% convinced I have contracted HSV-2 but would like to hear your thoughts on my symptoms.
2. Should my next step be to igg test at 6 weeks or can I do it earlier?
3. I keep checking everywhere for potential blisters/lesions. Would only the areas that were contacted break out? Or is it possible they could develop on my buttocks despite her never touching me there?

I would say it is very unlikely that your acquired HSV 2!2. Should my next step be to igg test at 6 weeks or can I do it earlier?
You can do it now and get a baseline result but if you are still concerned, you should do it again at 12 weeks out.3. I keep checking everywhere for potential blisters/lesions. If you contracted it genitally, outbreaks could appear on the buttocks as a recurrence, but not as a primary infection, no.Terri

Hi Terri. I just tested negative on an igg test at 13.5 weeks. I have now had a negative result on tests at 0, 1, 3, 6.5, 7.5, and 13.5 weeks. No igg values given unfortunately. I think I will plan to consider myself negative. Thanks for your help.

I think that is an excellent plan
