I have had vaginal pain for three years, ever since my diagnosis of HSV2. A physical therapist told me I have pudendal nerve neuralgia or entrapment or scar tissue. Is this possible? Did the herpes breakout cause one or more of these?
Herpes does not cause any of those things, no. Sometimes people can have very temporary neuralgia.
Are you having recurrent outbreaks? Have you taken antiviral therapy for some extended period of time and if yes, did it make the symptoms better?
Hardly ever have outbreaks anymore. Yes, did take acyclovir for three year and it did help prevent outbreaks and was able to shorten outbreaks by doubling the dose. Went off acyclovir this year due to hair loss.
Have learned that many, many things can cause pudendal nerve neuralgia. Have been to many, many physicians and tried many, many medications. Pain has not stopped and is increasing. Currently weighing different methods of treatment including cryoablation, surgery and stem cell injections.
I”m so sorry that you are still having constant pain. I hope that you find something that works for you.
