I recently had a full panel STI test with Quest. I tested negative for hsv 1. Hsv 2 came back at 2.72, with a positive inhibition test (I wasn’t given the percentages, just a positive note). Before to this test, I had not been sexually active for 3 years, and prior to that had always used condoms. I’d appreciate your thoughts on whether this could be a false positive, and your thoughts on next steps. Thank you!
I should add that I’ve never experienced any symptoms. Thanks again!
I think you need the western blot. Your sexual history isn’t fitting very well with a positive HSV 2 results AND you are in the low positive range. We have several false positive IA results, when compared with the gold standard herpes western blot.
