› Forums › Herpes Questions › Question on IgG test results
Hi Terry,
I just recently got my physical done which included STD testing and just got my results.
For the IgG results on HSV I got:
HSV1 – 19.50
HSV2 – 3.33
I knew I had genital HSV1 since 3 years ago when I contracted it so I wasn’t surprised to see that numbers. I was negative for HSV2 when I got this test.
In this recent results, what got me panicking is the HSV2 numbers. I have lived under a rock since I found out I am positive for HSV1 and had absolutely no relations of sort.
Could this HSV2 be a false positive?
Yes, it could be a false positive. And if you were negative for HSV 2 when you were diagnosed with HSV 1 genitally and haven’t had sex since, I think it likely is, but it’s a higher false positive, if it is. I think you should get a western blot
Terri
Hi Terry,
I would like to do the western blot for the sake of my sanity- I tried scheduling an e visit with you but it seems like all the times are unavailable, it might be technical issue but is there a way to schedule time with you?
I have returned to the US and have opened more appointment times now. I also had a cancellation this morning at 9 am pacific time.
