Hi Terri,
10 years ago I was told I had herpes via a culture swab but it was never typed. I never had another outbreak nor any symptoms. I began convincing myself I did not actually have hsv. I got a blood test with quest a few days ago and here are my results – hsv1- negative
Hsv2-7.42
My question is, is there anyone who has ever been misdiagnosed within this range and with a culture? I just find it so hard to believe that I actually have it. I’ve been in a committed relationship for 4 years and he doesn’t have it. I was in a relationship shortly before this one for 5 years and he didn’t have it either. Should I get a western blot test?
Thank you in advance!
Did you have a lesion that was swab tested?
Honestly, I don’t think that you were misdiagnosed but I also think you aren’t shedding virus very often if your partner now and your previous partner did not acquire HSV 2.
You could do the western blot if you still have doubts.
Terri
