Hi there, well, I’m a little nervous that I may have contracted HSV2 from a recent exposure about 3 weeks ago.
I was taking antivirals at the time to avoid cold sore outbreaks, so maybe that gives me a little protection. 400mg acyclovir 3x per day.
We did not have sex, but his penis did touch my outer labia majora, on the pantyline area, and he also fingered me.
A day later I started having some frequent urination and sensitivity after wiping. I think that may just be irritation or anxiety. I do have a history of std anxiety, I am always worried I will catch something. I went to the doctor and got tested for all STDs, also BV and yeast, it all came back negative.
Anyhow… exactly 12 days later, a burning searing feeling on my clitoris, like a very strong nerve pain, and then a couple days after that, on my inner labia minora I have a small reddish swollen area with some white dots inside. It does look similar to cold sores I’ve had in my lips before. I have continued taking the antivirals, so if it really is an HSV2 outbreak, I’m hoping to suppress it and make future outbreaks less painful and frequent.
In the meantime, my boyfriend has taken the Elisa Igg test from mylabbox.con and his result is positive for HSV2 and his number is 1.145
My question is, how likely have I contracted HSV2 from this exposure, and how likely is my boyfriends test to be a false positive?
Thanks for your help.

A quick update… my boyfriend is going to get the western blot as soon as possible to confirm results.
In the meantime, we’re still pretty concerned and stressed about the IGG results. I’m hoping you can give some insight on the likelihood of a false positive for him, and also whether my exposure is likely to result in infection for me?
I’m not sure if that counts as two questions, but I’m happy to purchase more as necessary.
Thanks again for your help!

the chance of a false positive for him is high – probably at least 90%
I really don’t think this exposure put you at risk,no, it was so minimal.Terri

Hi Terry,
Okay, he put in the order for the western blot kit and it will arrive in 2 weeks.
I just noticed on the mylabbox.com results it says “IMPORTANT: These reference ranges are based on dried blood and do not correlate to published serum values”
Negative: ≤ 0.590
Equivocal: 0.591 – < 0.600
Weakly Positive: 0.600 – < 1.000
Positive: ≥ 1.000Does that mean the usual 1.1 false positive rate does not apply?
Thanks again!

You know, I just don’t know the correlation between the dried blood samples and liquid blood samples. I’m glad he is pursuing the western blot
