› Forums › Herpes Questions › random scenario I am worried about
Hi Terri,
I have an embarrassing question to ask so I apologize ahead of time. Today I used the public restroom at my office and, unfortunately, one of my AirPods fell into the toilet bowl when I was in the stall. Without thinking, I reached into the toilet bowl to retrieve my pod and I ended up having to submerge my hand into the toilet water. I am so scared that I could have come into contact with HSV1/2 inadvertintely. Like, if someone used the restroom before me and was having a breakout and some of the virus was still in the water. Would it be possible for me to acquire the virus in this way? My hands have been try all winter so I am hoping if there was some of the virus left in the toilet bowl, that I didn’t have a break in my skin anywhere for the virus to enter.
I would be curious to hear what your thoughts would be on this scenario.
Thank you ahead of time.
Don’t ever worry about asking an embarrassing question on this forum. This is not a method of transmission. Herpes virus would not still be present in toilet water after it was flushed. And if there was any virus around, the dilution of the water will take care of any infectivity. I think you can completely remove this from your worry list.
Terri
