I have been with my girlfriend for 8 years. She had known genital herpes but not had an outbreak in 10 years. She has been on acyclovir suppression the entire time we have been together. Today she informed me that she has an outbreak. We had oral and genital sex yesterday. My western blot was indeterminate when we started dating. Should I start taking antivirals in the absence of symptoms? BTW I contacted you when we first started dating hence my western blot results.
And indeterminate is almost always really a negative, in my experience. I think I would wait until you have something that really seems like an outbreak OR you could treat for three days with 500 mg three times a day and see how you do.
