Hi Terri,
Thank you for your response.
My most recent tests indicate a 1.86 on Herpes 2, I conjunction with a positive Herpes 1.
My very first testing that I did in 2012 after the bumps appeared on my clitoris came back positive Herpes 1 and negative Herpes 2.
I have scheduled appointment with Renee to have a Western Blot to confirm these levels, and hoping that at the very least the Herpes 2 is negative.
I have a call session with you tomorrow afternoon. To move forward with the Western Blot.
In regards to predome symptoms with no outbreaks, could I assume that because I tend to be prone to yeast infections and in past BV that these are not considered predome in my case since I never had bumps again and anytime I was diagnosed with a BV or yeast infection it always accompanied a visual from my doctor… And the medications always helped those symptoms?
Thank you again.

So are you saying that when you got the bumps on your clitoris you had an antibody test done right away that showed positive HSV 1 and negative HSV-2? If you had the blood drawn within a week or two of the bumps up hearing, and you were already positive for HSV 1, then I think it is very unlikely that that these bumps were new herpes type one infection. Either the bumps were not herpes or they were old herpes or you have HSV 1 somewhere else on your body. And antibody test cannot tell you where an infection is, only that you have it. I will look forward to speaking with you tomorrow. I am assuming that you live in one of the five states that does not allow blood samples to be shipped out of state to the university of Washington and that is why you are speaking with RenĂ©. She is in charge of a study we are doing to look at the false positive rate of people who obtain a Western blot versus a positive index value on the herpes screening test. This study doesn’t allow us to evaluate samples from people in those five states.
We can talk more about this tomorrow. If it is at all possible I would like you to obtain a copy of the testing done in 2012 please before we talk. If this is not possible that’s okay, it would just be helpful to our discussion.

Hi Terri
I do not believe that I rushed out within the week or two after this showed up on my clitoris.
This was the first and only time I had anything on my genitals area (2012) which eventually lead me to have testing completed, likely at about a few weeks to a month afterwards because my boyfriend and I took some time to brainstorm on what these could have been.
So in 2012 results were positive Herpes 1, negative Herpes 2
Then never again had anything show up, but after boyfriend number 2 I decided to be checked again for peace of mind… No issues and my recent tests completed last week came back Positive Herpes 1 and Herpes 2 at a level of 1.86
I puts calls out to both past boyfriends after this to ask them if either one have ever been tested for herpes2, both say yes and negative and both say they have never had sores on them.
I have ordered the Western Blot to hopefully confirm a false low positive for the herpes 2.
So are you saying that if indeed what showed up on my clitoris in 2012 was herpes 1, and the fact that I have never had anything again, that it is likely that I will again?

Yes the statistics on this suggest that 88% of people who acquire HSV 1 genitally and don’t have an recurrence within the first year will not have another.
Glad we could get that test ordered for you.
