On March 2nd I went to the gyn due to a bad Odor so I suspected I had bacterial vaginitis . I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginitis . I requested the dr. To take std test since my ex cheated on me. On ‘March 5th I received a call stating I tested positive for hsv2 1.35 igg thru quest. I told the doctor I haven’t had sex in 10 months before then . So a week later I went to a different Gyn and he said I had a yeast infection and redid my blood work. On March 9th I received a call stating I tested positive for hSv 2 with a 3.40 igg thru labcorp.. I was recently told my sedimentation rate is high and I may have a autoimmune disease. Can these cause a false positive? And is it normal for the index value to go up so quickly. I have never had any symptoms other than the bad order, and feeling weird in my pelvic area. No lesions. Should I take a western blot or just face it that I contracted herpes 10 months ago. My ex said he tested negative for stds but I don’t think he took a hpv test.

I think you mean that your partner did not have an HSV test, right?
The 1.35 is very low but the 3.4 is a rather different story. In my experience, the lab corp values do run higher than the Quest values. If you were our patient, we would ask that you order a western blot yes because even the 3.4 is below the 3.5 cutoff of low positive, even though it is just below. I’m not sure if an autoimmune disorder could make your IgG look falsely positive, really. Do you have a history of cold sores? Did they do an HSV 1 test, do you know?Terri

No I never had a cold sore in my life and the doctor said I was negative for HSv 1. I only get bacterial vaginitis a few times a year, other than that I don’t have any problems. Have you ever seen someone index values change that much in a few days. I will register to be your phone patient the. Because no doctors here in Columbus Ohio will do the western blot for me. The doctors only said I’m positive and gave me the index value and said I don’t need medication until I have an outbreak of ever

Yes please call and set up an appointment with me and we can talk. I think I have openings today for consultations. Let’s talk about testing AND the use of the medicines.

Ok so is it best to wait till my yeast infection and bacteria infection is completely gone before I schedule the western blot test

No. The bacterial and fungal infection have nothing whatsoever to do with how the western blot would come out. The western blot is looking for virus antibody and that has nothing to do with a bacteria or yeast.
