Hey Terri
I was diagnosed with hsv2 over 14 yrs ago and would get 2-3 outbreaks per year after the initial outbreak.
This month I’ve had two outbreaks within the month.
Why??
I take (almost) daily 500mg valtrex for suppression because my partner is hsv2 free.
I’m curious as to why this is suddenly becoming more frequent
Are you having any underlying health concerns right now? Have you recently had a COVID vaccination?
Terri
Wow I totally missed this response
Sorry! Yes to the COVID vaccine, I got two doses back in 2021 I believe….
No known underlying health issues, stress is higher than what I’d like but i exercise regularly and eat well to try to mitigate. I’m noticing it’s more often when I’m about to get my period which is annoying because I don’t want to get outbreaks every month!! What can I do to reduce / prevent hormonal outbreaks if that’s the issue?
Im curious also, I had an outbreak start on Tuesday morning, I took 1000mg valtrex 3x per day all the way to Friday because Friday night was my relationship anniversary and I wanted to enjoy it with my man. The vulva herpes pimple almost got to the blister stage and then by Friday it was not at all visible but I could kinda feel a bit of an itch (not sure if that was imagined due to paranoia or an actual sensation)
Anyhow, he and I had sex Friday night and Saturday and although I didn’t have a visible sore anymore and I took the high dose antiviral I’m still concerned if I was contagious or not.
Do you think the antiviral helped to reduce the viral load and he’s “safe”?
I think the meds very likely reduced the amount of virus that was present.
If you get this again, I would strongly suggest that you have these lesions swab tested to be certain that are actually herpes.
