      Hello Terri,

I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post another question? I think I still have one left – sorry if I’m wrong, I’ll pay for another round if that’s the case.

I’ve been struggling with balanitis since february – a long story that eventually was resolved with a round of steroid cream and meeting with a derm that reassured me about the whole nature of it. My skin is apparently sensitive, and redness is to be expected at this point. This he put my mind at east, things have been nice and easy. For context, I’m HPV-1 positive and also suffer from dermographism.

I’ve had a regular partner these last couple of weeks. We’ve had protected intercourse and unprotected oral sex. Last wednesday, I felt quite tired and had a short bout of mild diarrhea. Nothing too bad – I had a sketchy burger at noon so I wasn’t concerned. I had protected sex that night.

Yesterday, I felt itchy on my right groin. Nothing new – that area is often itchy for me, unsurprising considering I’m quite hairy and wear slightly tight cotton boxers. But after scratching it, noticed I had scratched a red rash on that area : 3 red spots, shaping like a triangle. Similar red rashes are also present on my right testicle, like a mirror version of the groin spots, also shaped like a triangle. A few other tiny red bumps are present on the top of that area, and another, isolated one down my thigh. I’ve had no prodrome, no burning, and no itching. But I’m still worried. The biggest bump is like a sore, which makes me worred I may had caught HPV2.

I’ve had a staph infection 2 years ago in another spot of my pubis which was resolved and never came back since after a round of antibiotics.

What do you make of these new rashes? Thanks.

Oh I forgot to add: I’m on a daily Vacyclovir treatment, if it matters.

Oh and for the sake of clarity : I had protected sex/unprotected oral sex on May 6th and unprotected oral sex on May 10th before having both again on Wednesday night. My partner had no HPV history whatsoever.

I obviously meant HSV and not HPV… Sorry about the confusion.

Sorry for posting five times in a row – but the situation has evolved for the worse and spread all the way next to my anus. Red bumps are very numerous – some are boils, some aren’t. I’ve been to 2 specialists. A walk-in clinic venereologist that seemed convinced it’s herpes and made a swab test, and a dermatologist who was adamant about it not being herpes (no water vesicles etc), but rather fungus related. He prescribed me antifungal creams and pills to take for the next 4 weeks.

Waiting for the lab result is very stressful. Still, considering my recent sexual history, I still want your opinion on the subject. If what I read was right, a primary outbreak wouldn’t happen on a spot that wasn’t the shaft or a direct point of contact… But then such a widespread first time recurrence is just unfathomable.

Without seeing what you are describing, I can’t offer an opinion here. It is true that with most primary infections, the sores come at the site of exposure. If there were no water blisters present but rather a flatish red rash, that sounds more fungal. Let’s see how the swab turns out.

You’ve posted five times now – you’ll need to renew if you wish to discuss further, sorry

      Terri
