Hi there,
I tested positive for GHSV1 in December, I am in an open relationship. My partner had mentioned some open sores in her mouth that she had swabbed about three weeks earlier. It was negative. I received a blowjob a few days after this.
My outbreak was in my urethrea(very painful to pee).
She had a blood test after my diagnosis and tested positive for HSV1.
I started taking antivirals( valtrex) daily as suppression along with a number of herbs to reduce potential outbreaks. I have not had another outbreak.
My partner has struggled badly with the fear that I may give her GHSV1. She believes I could have been infected by someone else and possibly infected her, I hadn’t been with anyone else in 6months.
The biggest question I have is, if I am using a condom, taking antivirals and she has HSV1. What is your estimate of the risk she is in to get GHSV1?
Am wondering if there is any documented evidence of someone having a cold sore themselves and touching their genitals and giving it to themselves? Wouldn’t the above be the same if we both have the exact same virus?
Thanks for your time and wisdom.

Sorry, a couple more questions.
If I touch my penis, no symptoms or outbreak and then put my finger in her vagina, what is the risk, if there was shedding going on, is there a risk I can infect my partner who has HSV1 and what about someone who doesn’t have HSV1..
I have read that some soaps and silicon lubes can act as a barrier when shedding is occuring, have you read any science on various things a man might apply to even further reduce risk of transmission?
My partner has a new partner. He also has HSV1. Is there a risk of her giving him GHSV1 from a blowjob?
If he didn’t have HSV1. What are the % or likelihood of giving someone GHSV1 when not experiencing symptoms.
Thanks in advance.

Very close to zero. She already has what she’s worried about getting in a new location – HSV 1.Am wondering if there is any documented evidence of someone having a cold sore themselves and touching their genitals and giving it to themselves? Wouldn’t the above be the same if we both have the exact same virus?
That would happen only when someone has a brand new infection. That is not the case with you guys.If I touch my penis, no symptoms or outbreak and then put my finger in her vagina, what is the risk, if there was shedding going on, is there a risk I can infect my partner who has HSV1 and what about someone who doesn’t have HSV1..
If someone doesn’t have HSV 1, the risk is incredibly low and for her, way lowerI have read that some soaps and silicon lubes can act as a barrier when shedding is occuring, have you read any science on various things a man might apply to even further reduce risk of transmission?
Not that are currently available, noMy partner has a new partner. He also has HSV1. Is there a risk of her giving him GHSV1 from a blowjob?
Again, the same idea applies to him and to you and to her.If he didn’t have HSV1. What are the % or likelihood of giving someone GHSV1 when not experiencing symptoms.
We don’t have that number but we do know that even if people have oral HSV 1 and don’t have any symptoms, there is a small risk of transmissionTerri
