Hi Terri, thank you for providing this service. I did a search of the forum first but was unable to find any answers to this specific circumstance.
I tested positive for GHSV-2 three years ago and have been taking Valocyclovir every day since; I have only ever had the one initial outbreak.
I have a new gf to whom I have disclosed my condition, and we have been practicing unprotected fellatio followed by intercourse with condoms. My question has to do with the risk percentage of continued unprotected oral sex, and what happens to that percentage if ejaculation occurs during that oral sex? My understanding is the the risk of spreading GHSV-2 to someone orally is low, especially when on Valtrex, but I’m just mainly wondering about what ejaculation does to that equation. Thank you again,
M
Ejaculation doesn’t matter in terms of transmission. The skin to skin contact with oral sex is the issue. Transmission to her mouth is unlikely but possible.
Terri
