Hi Terri,
I had an outbreak of herpes at the lower back area after I got the Pfizer Covid 19 vaccine. I was not even aware it is related to HSV2. I went to Quest Lab to do the 10 panel STD test and my Igg results are both positive for HSV1 and HSV2. Igg of HSV1 is over 60 and Igg of HSV2 is 3.17. I was wondering is there any chance that the HSV 2 is a false positive? Should I try western blot?
Did you have the lower back lesions swab tested? Is that how you know they are due to HSV? As your immune system was busy making a response to the COVID vaccine, it may have not been as able to stop a herpes outbreak and that’s what happened. has this happened before?
If you had a positive swab test and a 3.17 on the IgG test, I think you should believe that you have HSV 2 infection. let me know
Terri
Hi Terri,
I did not have the swab test. I just showed my family doctor of the lesion and they told me it is Herpes. That was my first outbreak and I was not aware it is the infection of HSV2 at that time. Then half a year later, I went to do my STD test, the Igg of HSV2 is positive at 3.17. I do feel itchy once a while at the lower back. In this case, I guess I should be convinced that I have HSV2 infection. There might be no need to do Western Blot.
Thanks Terri
I guess I can’t be certain that you have HSV 2, though infection is likely with that number. If you get another lesion, be certain to have it swab tested next time. And if you still aren’t certain about your infection status, you could get the blot down the road.
