› Forums › Herpes Questions › Saliva – Hand stimulation risk
Hi Terri! I have done quite a bit of research prior to reaching out to you; however, I just wanted some clarification on this one. I had a very similar experience as described in the following link
The extent of it was only a hand job from a massage therapist who spit on her hand a few times, after also using oil as well. She stimulated me for approximately 20 minutes and I just left without orgasm. I’m very careful always and I had never seen her before so therefore I was pretty sketched out when finding via various sites that HSV1 can be transmitted through saliva. She didn’t ask me if doing this was ok and it was too late before I realized she was spitting in her hand. I normally only see very clean professional therapists whom I know but this day I tried someone new. I checked her mouth/lips before leaving and I didn’t see anything. She followed up with IGG tests because I was pissed. She came back positive for HSV1. Now I’m so nervous!! It’s been about 12 days.
It seems as though most sites have a textbook stamped “yes it’s possible” approach. Even absent of lesions.
You are a top expert in this field with many years of experience working with experts around the world. I know that you know your stuff! Why are these other providers and sites saying it is possible to transfer HSV1 through saliva by means of a handjob?
How likely is it she could have transmitted it to me via this situation? Seeing no open cold sores on her lips/mouth is giving me some hope. Of course I didn’t see what her inside lips looked like however.
I find throughout your answers that the risk here is zero but everywhere else I’m not finding that. Please help! Thank you!
I think for medical legal reasons, most providers, including myself, never say never. I think acquiring HSV 1 through masturbation with saliva is EXTREMELY unlikely. I’ve never seen it happen nor have I ever heard of it happening to someone else. That’s about the best I can do, I’m afraid. If I were in your situation, would I worry about it? Certainly not!
Terri
