      Hi Terri,
Awhile ago I took a test for HSV 1 and 2 IgG. I am negative for both, and clean of all other STDs.

I am having anxiety over a situation though: The other day, a co worker and I went out to lunch and sat across each other. I do not know of my co worker’s herpes status, I did not see any visible sores. He “says and sprays” and I am worried that he could have said and spread onto my food I ordered and came in contact with a possible herpes exposure.
How likely is it that a “say and spray” situation onto my food and then me taking a bite right after this contamination could get me infected?
I am freaking out. I am clean of all STD and want to keep it that way for the sake of my monogamous relationship.

      Thank you Terri!

I want to also ask if taking my igG test for herpes 1 and 2 65 days post potential (low risk) exposure is reliable?

The circumstance was that a stripper at a party peck kissed me on the lips but I have no clue her status and she also did the same kiss to others prior to me.

Let me know if I should take another igG to make sure?
      Thank you Terri!

Absolutely nothing that you have posted here is any risk at all and I do not suggest the IgG test in your situation.
BTW HSV 1 is not normally/always a sexually transmitted infection

Okay, that puts me at ease for the say and spray.

To be clear, I did take an IgG blood test 65 days after the kiss incident and got a <0.9 for both.
Can I rely on these results?
Or was it too early for me to get accurate results from this low exposure?

      Thank you Terri!

Given the experience which presents no risk to you, you can count on these results, within the ability of the test to picks up infections.

Okay, the only reason I asked was because online I saw a study that said one of the people took 103 days to seroconvert to positive. I took the igG HerpeSelect from Quest Diagnostics, which claims on their website that after 6 weeks it is “99% accurate”. What is the longest seroconversion time you have seen?

I also had another small inquiry; can herpes be spread through someone’s sneeze or cough since it’s “bodily fluid” or is that not enough fluid to create an infection?

      Thank you for your time!

The thing is, the IgG test misses 8% of HSV 2 and 30% of HSV 1, as compared to the gold standard western blot, so saying someone took 103 days to seroconvert is not a surprise – some people who have a positive western blot never have a positive IgG test.

Herpes is not transmitted via sneezing or cough, but COVID surely is so be careful!
