Hi, Ms. Terri. I have many questions want to ask and I am sorry English is not my first language.
My background:
I perform oral sex to my boyfriend, and I had cracked lip with bleed (Just little). 12 hours later, there had cold sores on same area. (I don’t know when I infected hsv1.)
After 6 days of the oral sex, my boyfriend got fever and tonsillitis. I don’t know I infect him or not because he say he does not have any symptoms on genital area until now.
And after 7 weeks of the oral sex, he had the blood test for HSV1 and the result is positive. (He does not remember he had cold sores or not when he was a child)My questions are:
1. Does my boyfriend has high opportunity infected the genital hsv1?2. Ms. Terri you strongly support that if folks infected the oral hsv1, they are extremely unlikely get ghsv1. Is there any studies support this?
(I am not challenging you, but there are too many different answers from the doctors. Some say the antibody just have some protections. Some say the antibody is nothing. Please know that the meaning is totally different for me with different answer. Thank you!)3. In “https://www.westoverheights.com/forum/question/hsv1-anxiety-and-need-reassurance/” You say infection of ghsv1 often have symptoms in adult especially they are looking. How about the symptoms of oral hsv1 primary infection in adult?
4. I don’t know when my boyfriend infected by hsv1, I scare he infected by hsv1 before 2-3months of the oral sex and then he infected Genital Hsv1. If he really in this situation, can he have the symptoms?
5. I search the information of hsv1 transmission. Some say people infected ghsv1 even the giver of the oral sex don’t have any symptoms. But some say if the givers don’t have the cold sores, the chance of infected is very small. Which is correct?
6. I find this information “Folks can have sex multiple times with an active sore and still not contract it.” Is this true?
My boyfriend does not have any symptoms in genital area until now and I really want to know His situation. Please help and thank you.

I don’t think he has a high risk of genital HSV 1 if he has not become symptomatic yet.
2. Ms. Terri you strongly support that if folks infected the oral hsv1, they are extremely unlikely get ghsv1. Is there any studies support this?
I absolutely strongly support this yes, once you have herpes in one location you are extremely unlikely to get it in a new location. It sounds possible that you boyfriend acquired HSV 1 from you orally?

They can involve the symptoms that you are describing for your boyfriend recently, yes.
4. I don’t know when my boyfriend infected by hsv1, I scare he infected by hsv1 before 2-3months of the oral sex and then he infected Genital Hsv1. If he really in this situation, can he have the symptoms?
I’m not sure I understand this question

It is possible to transmit the virus even when a person has no symptoms at all.
6. I find this information “Folks can have sex multiple times with an active sore and still not contract it.” Is this true?
That is also true, yes.

Thank you Ms. Terri.
For my Question 3, I scare he had autoinoculation. He had primary oral HSV1 infection before 2-3 months of the oral sex. And then he contract the Genital HSV1 by the oral sex. If it really happen on him, can he have the symptoms?
And one additional question, the interpretation of my boyfriend’s blood test is :
“less than 1/10 = negative for antibody to HSV
1/10 = non-diagnostic
1/100 = positive for antibody to HSV
1/1000 = indicative of recent or primary infection”Of course my boyfriend’s result is 1/100 for HSV1. But I never see this interpretation. Is this clinic’s blood test result accurate?
Actually, i never see he had cold sores and he doesn’t remember it. The time frame that he contract HSV1 is not clear. That’s why I ask you the primary infection of Oral hsv1 in adult would have symptoms. If the answer is yes, I think he contract the hsv1 in child and i can stop my worry. I am selfish. I don’t have the intercourse with him a long period of time. I really want to move forward.Thank you Ms. Terri!

If your boyfriend contracted HSV 1 in his mouth, then he is unlikely to have it genitally but I”m not clear about all the timing and I don’t think you are either. He is positive for herpes, though I am not familiar with this test at all – not at all!
If you both have HSV 1 infection then you can have sex whenever you wish without worrying about moving the virus between you.Terri

Hi, Ms. Terri, two last questions:
1) I have something on my lip. Does it is the prodrome of the cold sores?
2) If once have the prodrome of the cold sores, it MUST become cold sores or it can be disappear?
Thank you.

This looks nothing like a cold sore to me. And if you think you are having prodrome, it doesn’t always morph into a cold sore, no.
This is your final post on this thread. If you have more questions, feel free to renew.
