Hi, I recently went to the obgyn yesterday and they told me I tested positive for hsv 1 & 2 at >8. they didn’t give me specific index values but I never have symptoms or anything. yesterday they said my std results I’m guessing for gonorrhea and stuff not too sure were indeterminate and I talk to the girls who draw blood and I asked what that means and they said oh it’s just a lab error, so i told them maybe the hsv is a labor error too. so I told them to retest me and i asked for western blot they said the lab they use does it but last time i recall you have to order it from the unversity of washington? last year I had unprotected sex twice with two partners and they got tested and tested negative for everything. So I recently started having sex with my friend in Janaury of this year and We had unprotected sex and everything but I never saw a lesion or blister down there and I looked everywhere and he did too. I went to stat health before i went to my obgyn because i had a bad case of yeast and bv. they swabbed me and gave me medication for yeast and bv and I felt so much better. my swab there came out negative for everything but I still had pain so I went to my obgyn and she gave me antibiotics for pid and that took away the pain. the last time my current partner and I had sex we used protection then a few days later he had three bumps on his penis the doctor had to pop to get fluid out. his doctor called him yesterday as well and told him his culture was positive but the bumps aren’t herpes atypical. meanwhile he said he had negative blood test before then but the doctor said their not reliable. So now I feel like I’m in a blur and I don’t know what to do.

It sounds to me like you may have given your partner herpes. Are you saying his swab test was positive for HSV? Do you know which type? If he was not given a type, he needs to ask for it to be typed. If the result came yesterday, he should be able to get it typed if it was not typed originally. A negative IgG for HSV 2 has a 92% accuracy rate so it’s pretty darn good.
Indeterminate for gonorrhea? I’ve never heard of that. I hope you can get that cleared up
Are you saying that your HSV 2 index value was also >8? That’s pretty certain that you are infected with HSV 2 if that’s what you mean. If you had HSV 1 first (which you must have), and then acquired HSV 2, you may have acquired it without symptoms.
