So about 2 weeks ago, the day after I went to the doctor, I was getting into the shower and i noticed little red dots on the left side of the foreskin (im circumsized) of my penis, as well as little skin colored dots on the left side of my penis head. The red spots on my foreskin never hurt, cracked, blistered, had any liquid come out or anything. Sometimes they would tingle, but I think it was more from me looking at it and touching it every 20 min and constantly thinking about it and the skin colored bumps on my penis head never had any feeling at all. The red bumps on my foreskin are fading away a little bit. The last time I had sex was about the 2 weeks before I noticed it and I used protection, but i did receive oral sex with no protection. Ive never had anything like this on my penis before so I am very scared. I have gotten cold sores before as a kid, but only a few times in my life and its been a long time since I’ve had a cold sore. I’ve been researching herpes and std’s for the past 2 weeks obsessively and all the pictures I’ve seen on the internet don’t look like what i have because there is no blisters, sores and the white liquid, but definitely are little red dots. I have masterbated and there is no pain at all, but a slight tingle/itch after but not much. When i first saw signs of this it came up overnight. I added a picture I hope you can see it.

Is this a continuation of a previous post to me? Maybe just the name is familiar.
i can’t see the picture well at all, sorry.
If you have ever in your life had a cold sore, then you have HSV 1 (most likely) virus in your system as well as antibody. It is extremely unlikely you would then get HSV 1 at a new location on your body (the virus you would most likely get from receiving oral sex). So I think you can take that worry off your plate. The little skin colored dots may well be something called pearly papules, which are normal in about a third of men. You can look that up and see if it is what you have. It’s hard to know what to make of the little red dots since I can’t see them in this picture. Did your doctor see them when you wen in to see him?

This is a new post. Also, no I didn’t show the doctor because it happened the day after I saw him and haven’t had a chance to get back in there, and other then the red dots and a seldom very slight tingle/itch, I don’t have many other symptoms. The dots are fading and not as red as they were, but I can still see them in the picture. Below the head on the foreskin. Its been almost 2 weeks now since I first noticed them and they really haven’t changed a whole lot other then fading a little and not as red anymore. They still have never cracked or had any liquid come out, but my penis has been rather dry the last few days and kind of getting a slight rash on the bottom. The dots on the head don’t look like pearly papsules as they are more red and flat. I’m more worried about the red dots on the foreskin, because that’s were i can sometimes feel it and where most of the dryness is. Thanks for getting back to me. Its really weird asking these questions.

Probably not half as weird as posting penis pictures on this board, or, for that matter, evaluating penis pictures on the board. Oh well, we know we need all the help we can get sorting things out, right? I’m not seeing a foreskin in the picture. Are you talking about on the shaft of the penis? I can see some bumps there, but the picture is small enough in my view that I can’t really sort them out. However, red dots that don’t blister and have no fluid in them are unlikely to be herpes. Also, herpes changes over time, so I would expect to see some differences over two weeks, other than fading – something like scabbing, but you say these have no fluid so that would be unlikely.
I think if you are still worried about the dots, you should go back and see your doc. He is in a far better position than I to evaluate these – he has the real things, you! I just have a small picture.

Yes it is definitely weird on both ends. By foreskin I mean where I was circumcised right below the head on the shaft. I don’t have all the penis lingo down that well. I was thinking that they should have blistered or scabbed and had some liquid come out by now too, as it has been exactly 2 weeks now since i first noticed it. But I’ve heard not all symptoms are similar and I had red dots and a little itching so it was definitely a cause for concern. My testicles have also been dry and red the last few days. I don’t know if that has anything to do with herpes either. My doc is probably the best bet, but I just thought I would check with you as well. Since the dots are still there but fading, should I go to a clinic and get them swabbed to see if that is a better way to see what I have? Ive heard that is better then a blood test. Also I heard planned parenthood doesn’t test for herpes2 just herpes1, is this true? Do you guys do evaluations and testing at your clinic? I live in Portland so its in my area. Thanks again for the help.

If you live in our area make an appointment and come in if you wish! It’s always better to see something in person than to try to figure it out over the internet. It sounds like you may have symptoms consistent with a fungal infection on the scrotum, but again, seeing it in person is better for sure.
We definitely test for HSV 2 at our clinic – herpes is us!
