Okay so little over 2 months ago I began getting extreme itching in my groin area all over from the scrotum to the penis to the anal area ….I run to a city md and ask for a herpes test….now before I went to the city md I called my doctor she said it was jock itch ….she hadn’t told me that before I had tested positive for genital herpes she told me everything was negative except chlaymida ….this results came back in March and I found a few weeks ago that the HSV2 results were 1.35 …..so when I went to city md unknowingly that I had been tested scared I might have herpes they tested me and it came back 1.17 negative inhibition test …..the doctor said its not herpes it’s jock itch cause the rash is in the folds they said come back in a month and retest ….not the rash did clear up but the itching hasn’t stopped I retested and my results were 1.37 negative hsv2 inhibition again and i am negative for hsv1 all the way thru ….is this inhibition confirmatory or do I need more testing ….1st test was March and I didn’t even know result ….I I guess maybe it was negative inhibition there too that’s why she didn’t tell me I don’t know ….second test June4th resulted june16 ….3rd test 31 days lata …

I can see why you have concerns. So you continue to test low positive on the HSV 2 IgG, but when the lab takes the next step, the inhibition assay, it tests negative. Not too surprising with these two low positive results. I’m not a big fan of the inhibition assay due to what I think could be false positives, but false negatives are not a concern of mine with this test. A western blot would provide me as a clinician with more reassurance, but I actually think this test is OK.
My guess is that your provider did not tell you you had herpes because the inhibition assay was negative as I read it

I ask this honestly because it seems like once these false positives came about ….it seems as if everything just feels like a symptom …for example I’m 100% heterosexual male …this morning when washing my genitals I feel 2 small pimples under my scrotun near my anus …:very small …I don’t understand how it could be a hair bump being it as I don’t shave and never have ….I have had pains in back and legs not really the shooting pain that are described is other people’s post when it comes to herpetic leg and back pain just different pains …:I continually get headaches …:I pray everyday that all this is ….is jock itch and just my mind…..my question I guess is how likely are these small pimples by my anus herpes …always thought they were more likely on the penis of a heterosexual man ..::I’ve never even got my but smacked let alone something down there ….and how trust worry are you in the inhibition test ….should I just stick with my results of lob positive and negative inhibition or should I pay for the expensive WB??

I don’t know about the pimples or what they might be – just pimples?
As I said, I think the problem we have seen with inhibition assay (as compared to western blot) is what appear to be false positives, not false negatives. If you can relax with the inhibition assay, then yes, I think it’s going to be OK with that test. These false positives can be very disconcerting, I really do understand.Terri

And is there a time period i should wait before ordering the wb test kit….are herpes sore or pimple generally painful?? and lastly what are the most common area for herpes outbreaks on heterosexual males??
Besdies that thank you for absolutely all your help…. God willing i am 100% negative and these are just strange feelings and courses of events…

LOL, I had this funny vision pop into my head of you trying to see your anus just now. Sorry.
When I hear about herpes leg pain, it is described as running down the back of the leg, one side only, and the timing is just before an outbreak, most commonly.
Wait 16 weeks before getting the western blot. Our clinic can arrange for you to be drawn at a lab near where you live and they will ship the blood to UW. The most common site of outbreaks in men is the shaft of the penisTerri
