I believe around september i went to my PCP with a foreskin issue. He prescrived two creams and that took care of the issue. I have noticed my foreskin getting red if i have to much sex or go to bed directly after sex. I went to urgent care with my fore skin issue on the first. The physican assitant prescribed my clotrimazole and said it was a fungal
Infection. I asked them to run a blood test, suprisingly i was confirmed positive HSV2 iGg 2.53, and HSV1 66(wasnt surprised on HSV1)

I was in shock , not knowing what to do i told my girlfriend and mother. They are very supportive, i did my research and went to a urologist monday. I showed them my results petrified me. I did notice for the couple days i started using clamitrazole my “fungal infection” reacted differently. The two PAs did a swab , observed my foreskin . The urologist sat me in the office pretty my saying i have HSV2. It seemed like a sales pitch because the entire time i was there they kept talking about a circumsion. The last week has been stressful, especially with the low positive index i received on the exam. All that has been wondering through my thoughts is HsV2 , barely sleeping. The doctor prescribed me Valtrex 500MG . Ive taken it to follow through but i still have faith iam negative. Maybe its optimism , maybe the research i have done. I dont know. The redness i had started reacting one i left alot of clomitrizole over night. I had no ulcering but some red raw skin. Wherever i had the irritation on the foreskin is now healed there was no scabbing . Just like a burn.. im super scared sorry for all the grammatical errors . My nerves are through the roof..all i think about is this..

According to the CDC guidelines, you need a confirmatory antibody test, such as the western blot. You can work with your own physician to get that test or I can order it for you. There is about a 50-50 chance that your positive is a true positive. Let’s have you get that done so you can know that you are dealing with a false positive or a true positive. From your description, it sounds more fungal.

    Hi terry,

I went to the urologist today to follow up with the exam. I scored a 56.60 IGG on HSV1 & a 2.58 on HSV2 . As per the swab they stated that the blood test is more accurate thats why they cancelled the swabbed. I explained the false positive ranges and the fact that the blood test looks for antibodies. They pretty much said your positive got Hsv2 , blood is accurate. oh and get this now im positive for clymidia when i tested negative last exam two days before . What are my next steps ?

My answer remains the same. You need a confirmatory antibody test. The western blot is the best test. If you want the most accurate test, I would advise limiting the use of Valtrex.
