07/21/2017- one week of intense itching, noticed sores, Gyn ordered IGG and culture.
HSV2 IGG- 1.77
Culture- Positive
07/26/2017- sheer curiousity, ordered IGM
IGM reflex- 2.17
I began taking valacyclovir daily. Itching and sores lasted about 1 more week. No symptoms since.
{I’m a firm believer in the bodies own ability to heal itself. I’ve been doing research for several months and preparing my body for an intense detox/cleanse}
06/08/2018- follow up with Gyn, ordered IGG just to see where my number was before beginning. (I understand it’s likely a fools errand but it’s a win/win. Even if I lose, I’ll be incredibly healthy at the end. Worth a shot.)
HSV1 IGG- negative
HSV2 IGG- negative
Gyn called and had the same sample re-run.
ADDED IGM reflex- 1.85
HSV1 IGG- negative
HSV2 IGG- negativeThese results are incredibly confusing! I have not taken the valacyclovir in one month, and had no symptoms or recurrences. Are these results strange enough to request the Western Blot test kit? I would really love to hear I don’t have herpes after all… but the culture was positive and the igg was initially positive. But it now being 11 months later and I have zero symptoms and testing negative on IGG. I’ve read IGM is incredibly unreliable and often produces false positives.
I’m just not sure what’s going on in my body, which is so very frustrating! Please help me

How many months/weeks did you take Valtrex?
Sores plus a positive swab test that was able to be typed should be very reliable for a diagnosis. The medicine influences the test if taken for a long time AND the IgG test misses 8% of HSV 2 infectionsTerri

I took Valtrex for 11 months.
7/2017- positive culture, positive IGG, positive IGM
fast forward 11 months
6/2018- negative IGG
6/2018- negative IGG again
* stopped taking valtrex
7/2018- positive culture again, “equivocal” IGG. < DR says this isn’t the routine IGG but a more sensitive IGG test.Is it possible for 11 months of valtrex to cause IGG antibodies to basically disappear? Or is it normal for IGG levels to go down over time?
From all the research I’ve done IGG numbers do not decrease, they only ever increase. And the valtrex does not have an effect on IGG numbers.
I’m definitely still positive for HSV2. I fully understand that. But I am confused as to how the IGG numbers are decreasing. I am currently eating a raw food diet and hoping I can cure myself. While this may seem like a fools errand to some, I do believe there is a yin for every yang. Could a raw food diet and herbs cause IGG to decrease? This is great news and I’m excited. But it’s all just so confusing.

Oh yes, most definitely. Whatever you are reading is mistaken.
You were just barely positive at the first draw – this looks just like new infection to me.
The job of Valtrex is to stop viral replication. If it is fully effective with new infection, there is no virus for the immune system to see so it eventually just stops making antibody. This is not true with established infection but with brand new infection, I have seen this many times.
Sorry but it’s the Valtrex impacting the IgG, not raw food and herbs.Terri
