Abut 10 years ago I got a bad cut on my finger from working in a kitchen. It healed up and about 6 months later I started to get these odd lesions/pustules on the inside of my finger in the same spot as my previous cut that were extremely painful, red and made it hard to bend my finger. They lasted about 2 weeks and eventually popped (or I popped them and soaked them in peroxide…I was a kid) It was a cluster of about 4-5 pustules and clear fluid leaked out although the raised areas were white and appeared to be pus filled until they actually popped. This returned about half a dozen times over the next 5 years, usually when I was super stressed out. The one time I went to the ER (small town/no clinic) because it hurt so bad they had no idea what it was, brought a “rash” book into the room, and sent me home on acyclovir thinking it was shingles/herpes. I also started to have pain going up my whole finger and into my hand at that point. I haven’t had a flare up in over 5 years now in that location.
Fast forward to now, I’ve had probably 3-4 episodes of a single clear lesion on my labia, different presentation than the pustule on my finger, but very sore, red and lasting 1-2 weeks at a time. I was correlating it to “cutting myself shaving” thinking maybe it was staph but I think I’ve talked myself into it being herpes (thanks google) I’ve only been with my now husband since I was 19 so I don’t know how I would’ve contracted it if it is herpes, unless the virus can migrate? I forget which kind of herpes they said I had (Simplex? Zoster? Is that the same as 1 vs 2??) I didn’t think much of it until now. I also just got a small reddened area on the outside of my anus too and am now freaking out. I had the chicken pox as a kid, so they said I “already had the virus” but I haven’t done a ton of research honestly. I plan on making a Dr’s appointment but I’m not sure if it’s only testable when it’s flaring up? I guess I’m just looking for some pointers before I go in 😑

I am so sorry to have missed this post – you must be very disappointed.
I am very concerned that your finger lesions may well be herpes simplex virus. If it comes up again, you should have a herpes swab test done from the blisters. The lesion on the labia is also concerning. The same is true with this – if it comes back again, be certain to have a swab done of the lesion and have it typed, if positive (HSV 1 or HSV 2). The chicken pox virus will not interfere in any way with this appropriate swab testing.
