Hi Terry, thank you for this forum.
50 Year old M
Had unprotected encounter with same person twice.
Preformed oral sex both times
Also had vaginal sex
Shortly after started noticing slight pain in my Perinium area(pressure) and feeling of needing to urinate only to get a dribble.
Thigh pain high and on top of my thighs.
Mild discomfort when urinating but nothing bad.
I didn’t think much of it other than calling the doc for a men’s health issue.
Then Thursday (9/23) I had a discharge from my penis (white pus) and I freaked out.
I immediately thought it was an STD and took the following.
1.azithromycin 2tablets 1000mg
2. Cerixime 2 tablets 400mg
3. Metronidazole (2g)
I jumped on these Immediately through a tele health because I was out of town.
By Monday the pus was gone.
Tuesday (back home)I went to a quest diagnostics lab and had a 10 panel screen done.
The stuff I was worried about came back “clean”. However I came bavk hsv2 positive.
The IGG number was 4.13 on 9/29/2021
Aside from being shocked, I have no idea what that number means in relationship to the late august encounter.
Aside from what was mentioned above I don’t have any noticeable symptoms. I’ve never experienced an outbreak to the best of my knowledge.
The discharge is gone. But there is some pain in my perinium area.
Is 30 days enough testing time and would the numbers be skewed by a shot of antibiotics roughly 4 days before the test?
Today (Friday 10/1) is just 7 days since the first 2 drugs, and tomorrow is 7 since the metrondiazole.
I’m very confused and would appreciate some insight on the need for further testing.
My last unprotected sex was summer of 2015 with no noticeable symptoms or concerns.

The 4.13 could be a false positive or could be an infection related to the August encounter. The discharge is likely not related to a new herpes infection but rather to a bacterial infection which appear to be treated.
A month is not long enough to wait to be tested, really. I would suggest that you either do another IgG test at 8 weeks out and/or do the western blot at 12 weeks out for certainty since you have had no symptoms of herpes.

At the dr now, just had a prostate exam. It’s swollen and tender.
I did not disclose the results of the IGG…just described symptoms. And my previous fear of std with neg test results for chlamydia/gonn/trich
There was traces of blood in my urine, and I got “the finger wave” and he indicated an inflamed prostate.
He’s going to do a culture on the urine and also said he suspected an infection.
He’s prescribed ciprofloxacin.
I will IGG again at 8 weeks and update.

PS, if I’m on cipro during that time should I wait or IGG at 8 weeks. The rx is for 28 days

IgG at 8 weeks out should give you a good idea of what might be going on. But really, the IgG test result of 4.13 with no symptoms consistent with herpes should definitely be confirmed by the western blot.
