› Forums › Herpes Questions › Should I do western blot with high index
I noticed a white bump on my labia, not painful and no other symptoms. Got tested at Planned Parenthood and got a positive index of 11. I’m curious if it’s worth doing a western blot with that high of a result?
Did you get a positive index value of 11 for HSV one or HSV two? Did anybody swab the lesion on your labia? If this does represent an HSV-2 infection, it is not a new infection but rather one that has been established for a while. Does this fit with your sexual history? I have seen false positives on the IgG test with index values as high as 17. What did the clinician think about the white bump when you were seen?

It was a positive index of 11 for HSV2. The clinician thought that it was in fact HSV2 when she saw the photos of the bumps. No one swabbed it because it was not present at the time of testing.
I did have a sexual partner in the past that was positive for HSV2.
Is it pretty likely this is a true positive?
Thank you Terri
I think we spoke yesterday, correct?
