Husband cheated and I had a full STD panel and tested positive for HSV 2. The test was an HSV 2 IGG Type Specific test and my result was 2.39. I told my husband and he was tested and also positive but I don’t know his numerical result ( we are divorcing). I have never had an outbreak, no symptoms at all, and he claims he has not either. I know my score is within the range where false positives can occur. Should I get a Western blot or other second test if my ex has already tested positive? Thank you.
Yes, I still think you need a western blot. At your index value, there is a 50-50 chance that this is a false positive. If this is something you are going to live with for your lifetime, I think the diagnosis needs to be spot on, don’t you?
