I’m 18 yrs old,I have had many sexual partners. My ex of 3 months told me that he has an index level of 2.4 for HSV2 but had tested negative before having sex with me. I recently tested with Labcorp IgG and my index level resulted in 1.27 HSV2 and 3.39 HSV1, but with no symptoms. Last time i had unprotected sex with him was about 3 wks ago. My previous partners before him have not been tested so i do not know how long I have had it.I want to know:
1.What’s the possibility of this being a false positive?
2.Should I go ahead and get the blot test or should I get another IgG test to confirm before the blot test?
3.Is it too early for the blot test?
4.If I do have another IgG test done and it comes up with a lower index or negative, should I get the blot test still?
I am panicking at the fact that I might have this disease for the rest of my life and just want reassurance as to what my next step should be.

You should do the blot and wait 12 weeks from your last sexual encounter to get it done. It could be a false positive but concerning that your partner is now positive after having sex with you. But his could also be a false positive. If you redo the IgG and it is still positive, yes, you should do the blot.

Thank you for your response Terri I have another question though. If I do have another IgG test done and the numbers are lower, does that increase the possibility that the original was a false positve?
