I had unprotected vaginal sex 8 weeks ago with someone I shouldn’t have. All other sex has been with a partner months before who said he was clean. Last week (7 weeks post unprotected sex) I noticed a single bump that resembled an ingrown hair or cystic pimple. I messed with it and it got red, itchy and inflamed. A couple days later it did kind of have an head and white puss came out. I compared it to pictures of herpes for days but couldn’t tell. (Whatever it was it healed in a week)

So I got an std test including Hsv1 & 2. Hsv1 is negative. Hsv2 came back positive with a 2.27igG.

Is that a low number? Is it because it’s early or could it be a false positive? I’m driving myself crazy over this, I can’t even sleep. I’ve never had an std.

Also I reached out to the person I had unprotected sex with and he won’t respond which leads me to believe he knew he had herpes and said he didn’t.

I’m honestly mortified and don’t know what to do.

That is a low positive index value and needs confirmation. What lab did the test? Was any confirmatory testing done? Did anyone evaluate the bump in person? This could be a false positive or a real positive, but you need to wait 12 weeks before doing the western blot which is the test you really need to sort this out.

So what you need to do is arrange the blot – get the kit from UW and talk with your own provider to see if they will do it and if not, I can work with you to get it.

      We can’t know anything yet.
