I’m currently in a relationship for 1.5 years. We were discussing test results and I discovered I have never been tested for hsv.On 10/20/23, I took the IgG hsv1/2 test. I have never had an outbreak. My scores were hsv1. >58 and 1.22 hsv2. The inhibition test was done and it just came back on 11.3.23 with an “out of range” positive. I was not expecting that. I took another igg test 11.3.23 and I’m waiting on the results. Bf was last tested last December as negative hsv2 and positive hsv1. He had cold sores since he was younger. Also, a week before I tested had friction from underwear and a bodysuit and developed a small cut on the bottom of my viagina. It formed into a little bump and now it’s gone. This cut took two weeks to heal, but nothing oozed out of it or anything. I had no concerns regarding it because I knew why it was there. However, Could this have been an outbreak? Also, Bf typically gets sick around this time of year. We were out in the rain one weekend. He got a cold and then a week later developed hives all over his body. He said it happened before but this was around the time I had a cut.
Do you think I should take the blot? Do you think the >58 has something to do with my out-of-range result? I thought a percentage was supposed to be given. I ordered the blot on 11.3.23. I tried to book a consult with you but your schedule is showing no availability. Is this accurate or the site is down? If not, how can I book the consult?

The site is not down – I’m out of the country right now and my schedule when I return is totally full but I will be adding appointments. We’ve seen several false positives on the inhibition as compared to the blot so you need to get the blot. The cut concerns me, I’ll be honest. You boyfriends symptoms don’t sound herpetic. You could certainly have a false positive due to your very high HSV index value, yes.

OK, I will look out for your schedule. Is there anyway to get a notification? Why does the cut scare you? It was like a scrape not a straight cut.
Why did my inhibition test say out of range? Do you think this is a new infection?

I just received my 2nd test results and hsv1 >58 and now hsv2 is 4.33. This is exactly 2 weeks from the first test. Is this weird?
Also, I wanted to note that most of my scars heal the same way because I tend to have hypertrophic scars.

Hi, I retested yesterday, and hsv1 >58, and hsv2 is 3.40. This is crazy. However, I have been stressed and very emotional for the last two weeks. Do you think I should still do the blot? I made an appointment for the 21st.

Yes, I think you should still do the blot. I am seeing more and more false positive inhibition assays. And out of range is a positive result.
I don’t know if that applies to you or not but this is a lifelong situation so best to know for sure. See you on the 21st.Terri
