I’m 40 year old woman. Two weeks a ago I kissed a woman I didn’t know before. Suddenly she stopped and said that she noticed that she had a wound in her lip. She said that she coudn’t kiss because she has a genital herpes. But the genital herpes doesn’t transmit from the blood, doesn’t it?
Now I have felt itching on my lip for four days and sore throat and I’m really afraid that I have herpes on my mouth.
Is it really irresposible to kiss someone now or have oral sex?
(English isn´t my first language. That´s why there may be weird words)
Have you ever had a cold sore on your lip? I think that’s what she was referring to, not to genital herpes. Cold sores are generally HSV 1 and genital herpes can be HSV 1 or HSV 2, but a sore on the lip is not genital herpes. It is not transmitted through blood, no. If you get a cold sore in the next week or so, you will know that she transmitted it to you (unless you have had it before). If you do get a cold sore, that can be transmitted to the genital of another person by giving them oral sex, yes. Or it can be transmitted through kissing, yes. Let’s see what happens with your lip.

Thank you for your answer. I have some blisters in my mouth and doctor said that they look like hsv. And he took tests. My question is: if person has for example hsv1 antibodies and has had symtoms only in mouth can the same person get hsv1 later in genitals or does the antibodies prevent that?
Once a person has well established infection in one location, say, for example with HSV 1, they would be extremely unlikely to get it in a new location on their body. to get an infection well established, it takes about 4 months from new infection.

Thank you for your answer. I just wanted to tell that after all this was false alarm. I had the results today and found out that it wasn’t hsv! I’m so very happy! Best wishes from Montreal!
That’s great news, very happy for you!
