      Hello again Terri,

Since I first wrote to you, I have had 6 HSV2 IGG tests. It seems excessive, I know.
Strangely, the results descended chronologically, with the 1st a positive at 1.68 (12 days after the encounter), the 5th a positive at 1.1 and the 6th a negative. The 6th test was done about 20 weeks after the encounter that made me get tested in the first place. At this point I was feeling good about the possibility of being tested false positive. I have not had any symptoms.

But now I have a lesion on my buttock, several 3/8″ red spots on my thighs and lower abdomen, among some other tiny red spots on the outer thighs and buttocks. Outside of the lesion, I likely wouldn’t have noticed any of these. Not of them hurt at all. I opened the lesion wound with my nails while washing, so I don’t know what it looked like before but it is now 3/4″ long and narrow. None of these thing look like “classic” herpes as I have seen photos of. But they don’t look good either. I am hoping it is folliculitis and have made an appointment with a dermatologist.

Does this description sound like HSV2?

I am trying to get the Western Blot.
I am wondering about my previous test results. How likely is it to test false negative for HSV2 (ELISSA)?
I have read that a small number of people don’t produce antibodies for HSV2 so will not test positive.
Is this true? And how would that jive with my previous test results?

thank you so much for your wisdom.

So hard to tell from your description if this was herpes. Generally, herpes is not scattered all over the place as you describe, though. When is your appointment?
Our clinic can order the western blot to be drawn at a lab near you – you just need to call and set up an appointment.
If I had to guess, I would say you have had false positives on your ELISA tests, but that’s a well educated guess only.

      Terri
