28M here, Ok, so i had a sexual encounter with a girl from tinder about 30 days ago. 5 days after that, I notice a lesion on the head of my penis. I thought it was just a cut so I went on about my day. But after a few days I noticed it got bigger then finally one day 2 more popped up to the right of it. Went to PP, got it swabbed and confirmed herpes. I was given 10 day does of acyclovir and everything cleared up in a week. No new lesions, some prodrome here and there but for the past few days ive been feeling fine. Now heres the thing, PP doesn’t test for type 1 or type 2, so I could have either. Now onto the actual encounter.

We had unprotected oral sex but definitely protected PIV sex. I made sure the condom stayed on all the way to the bottom the entire time. I even finished after I pulled out of her. So i know for a fact that the head of my penis did not touch her vagina.

Now i read that the primary outbreak area starts where the virus enters the body. The only place this can happen is from her mouth. Unless the condom slipped out then slipped back in before i checked. I cant think of any way for the penis to actually touch her vagina. The clinician at PP also agrees with me.

I messaged the girl asking if she has ever had cold sores or genital herpes and she said she has not. But shes going to get tested in a few days and will let me know next week. As for myself i need to wait 2 more weeks to build antibodies and get tested to. From everything that im reading on this sub, it seems like half the people here get ghsv1 and half are ghsv2. Most ghsv1 stories i read are form people receiving unprotected oral, which is what happened to me.

can anyone here chime in there thoughts? does this sound like ghsv1 or 2? also if anyone has similar experiences please let me know here. Ive been having trouble concentrating, eating, sleeping, working. I dont know what to do right now while i wait.

      thanks for reading

So any lab will do typing if it is requested, I believe, but apparently, it was not requested. That’s too bad. If this is new herpes from this encounter, and it may not be since the lesion was on the head of the penis, you may not have antibody yet. But this could be reactivation of an old infection if you’ve not tested before. Have you? If it is a new infection, it is likely from oral sex and would be HSV 1, that’s correct. But the IgG test misses 30% of HSV 1 so it might be hard to know for sure. Also, a positive HSV 1 test would not tell you the location of the infection, only that you have it. The CDC says all swab testing should be typed. I would think Planned Parenthood would know that!

So I just got back word from the last girl I slept with that she got her blood test results. These are her results:

      HSV1 igg: 24.50
      HSV2 igg: <0.90

Can I safely assume I have HSV1 and not 2 from these results? I plan on getting tested next week, just want to hear your input on this. Thank you!

well, if you assume you JUST got it, then yes, but I’m not clear that you can make that assumption. Are you?
