Hi Terri,
I hope you are well there. Ill make this sort and simple:Im a 34 year old male. I recently went to a Asian massage parlor and had PROTECTED (I used a condom) anal sex with a female there. The condom did not slip or break and was rolled down to the base of my penis. The encounter lasted about 2 min. We did this doggy style. She was a large women so the only skin to skin contact was my hips against her buttchecks.
I have no symptoms after 5 days now. How worried should I be about herpes based on my sexual experience above? How well did the condom protect me in that situation? I know condoms provide 50% protection for males with vaginal sex and 96% for female, but I am wondering that fact that I did anal changes that percentage of protection for me here.
Thank you for your time.

I don’t think you need to be worried at all! The condom was definitely your dear friend. The 96% applies here, or even more than that.

I should have stated in my first post that I’ve has HSV1 orally since I was 5 (actually for the last 3 years I get them inside my nose, not my mouth anymore).
Anyways, THANK YOU for your response. Im sure I speak for many people here that words from a professional like you are extremely valuable. Thank you for what you do. I wish I could do more to show my appreciation.
I see I am at not much risk at all from my specific interaction, which is very comforting at a time like this. BIG lesson learnt.
The final questions I have now are:
1) I (male) had protected anal sex with with female, It was in doggy style. I did not have contact with her vagina for vaginal fluids. The only skin to skin contact was the front of my hips against her buttcheeks. Why is my protection rate with a condom 96%+ in this specific situation, but when compared to standard male/female vaginal sex my estimated protection rate as a male with a condom is 50-65%?
2) IF (fingers crossed) I don’t have any herpes blisters/signs appear after 12 days from my described exposure can I put this whole thing behind me and completely relax with confidence that I don’t have HSV from this interaction? OR should I get tested for HSV and other STDs still (in 3 month)? I want to be responsible, and if my exposure during this contact was enough to warrant further testing then I want to refrain from any other sexual contact until I can be confident I personally cant spread anything to anyone.
This is my last post and ends my subscription – again thank you.

Purchased more questions in case I am over my limit in addition to my above questions.
My exposure was on November 1st (as described in my first post). It should be noted I am highly stressed about this encounter and my risk of HSV (or any other STI for that matter). So due to my stress I am aware I might have stress related symptoms. That being said…
Update:
On November 10th I had a very small single red bump at the base of my penis. This bump was slightly red and slightly raised. It never blistered at all. It did not have a head on it like a pimple or anything of that nature. Just a small red bump. It went away completely in 1.5 days (max). Looked like a slightly infected hair follicle, but it didn’t have a hair coming out of it. Should this be of concern to me?
For the last 2 days my left testicle has had a sharp ached a few times through the day. Should this be of concern?
Others then these very minor things, I have had ZERO blisters that look like traditional HSV (comparing what I know my previous HSV1 oral cold sores look/feel like) and I am now on day 15 from my possible exposure.
Lastly, I had sex with someone last week. A few days after she mentioned her lymph nodes in her arm pits were swollen. Should I be concerned that I gave her HSV2 from my possible exposure or is swollen lymph nodes alone (no blisters or sores reported) not a reason to be concerned?
I know you are busy, thank you for your time.

You stated that the condom fully covered your penis and that’s very good as sometimes they don’t for men. Also, you describe it lasting two minutes – that very very short and risk is proportionately lower with a very short contact.2) IF (fingers crossed) I don’t have any herpes blisters/signs appear after 12 days from my described exposure can I put this whole thing behind me and completely relax with confidence that I don’t have HSV from this interaction? The testing for herpes yields some false positives and in low-risk situations like yours, I simply don’t recommend testing.Herpes lesions don’t last 1.5 days and herpes doesn’t cause testicular pain.
Genital herpes doesn’t cause swelling of armpit lymph nodes.
