Hi,
Is it safe to go swimming with your kids with HSV2? This may seem like an irrational question but I just wanted to check. Thank you.
Yes, it is fine to swim with your kids when you have HSV 2. The water is a huge dilution factor and normally there are also chemicals in pools that kill viruses. I appreciate that you want to keep your children safe, but swimming with them with HSV 2 is NOT a risk we have any concerns about.

Thank you for the very quick response Terri!
Just a quick clarification (and sorry to labor the point but I forgot to be more specific in my first question) – is the answer the same if you have an active outbreak or have asymptomatic shedding? I am swimming with my infant for the first time and am a bit nervous! I am also on 1000mg daily suppression of Valtrex.
Thank you!
I assume you are swimming in a pool? Yes, my advice is the same with an active outbreak or asymptomatic shedding.
