Hello, Dr. Terri I hope youre well. I had questions that answers to would alleviate my mind.
Earlier this year on February 27th, I received protected oral sex from an escort. Immediately after this interaction I was paranoid that I contracted something through the saliva that may have touch the base of my penis.
I went to the doctor on April 13th to get an HSV igg test(labcorp) and to address itching ive had on my in my genital region. The itching is mostly on my testicles and perineum but also sometimes on my shaft. I was given medication for jock itch.
HSV1:0.94 HSV2: 1.15
I was told this is a low positive and that I may have an outbreak in the future. I asked for a confirmatory test to be sure.
I took another test on May 23rd HSV1:1.58 HSV2:0.97
At these doctors visits I have shown my doctor spots I have personally found concerning, but I was told that none of them look like herpes. The itching I have experienced seems to be worse when I am sweaty or my skin is really dry(I have eczema). I noticed that moisturizing and using gold bond powder helps alot. This has persisted regularly for atleast a month and a half. I have never had a noticeable outbreak/general hsv symptom that I know of.
Is it likely that this is herpes, and is a western blot necessary?
Why would the test result numbers flip like that? Is that showing a concerning trend in antibodies for HSV1?
what is the likelihood this is a cross-reaction?
How would you proceed with this information?
