I had to post again because I didn’t get the answers to the questions I had. Anyways my test results from blood drawn post ten weeks.
I also already deal with w Nero muscular problems. I have FHSD. Muscular dystrophy. I don’t know if that impacts me at all for better or worse. Is it possible with some of the medications, that I take could cause lesions Propanolol, amitriptyline, Xanax, Diclofenac, skillaxim. Prilosec take for . I have been under a lot of stress and some hormone issues. I also had to get tested for breast cancer. Negative. Thankfully but I read sometimes stress and hormonal issues can simply cause ulcer like sores in the genital area. I have irregular bowel movements and read that that could cause symptoms as well.
Name Value Reference Range
HSV 1 GLYCOPROTEIN G-SPECIFIC, IgG POSITIVE
HSV 1 IgG LEVEL >8.0 AI
HSV 2 GLYCOPROTEIN G-SPECIFIC, IgG NEGATIVE
HSV 2 IgG LEVEL <0.2 AI
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS 1 & 2, IgM NEGATIVE
HSV 1&2 IgM LEVEL 0.72 IV
Tested negative for hsv1 and hsv2 from a lesion sample. Went in on the 4th day of the lession. I picked at it because I thought it was an I grown hair. 24 or 48 hours before the test I had cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide. The I counter was w/ person hsv2. It was just skin to skin contact. Saw two doc both thought it was hsv. But I didn’t have the general simptons for the 1st out break. The peroxide did not sting. The lesion never crusted over. It was like a canker sore when they took the sample. I did end up with three lesion. Two I had just noticed appear right before I went in and got a pcr test for the lesion. One doc thinks it’s ghsv1. I already had that orally from an out break over ten years ago. Partner may have been on suppressive medication. He has hsv2. What is the likely hood of my two tests producing false negitive? If I have hsv1 is it possible to be more resistant ? The skin to skin contact was very minimal and brief. I know I need to be checked again at the 16 week mark. But are my odds of not having it based on what I told you very likely it’s a true negative ? Or should I be very concerned ? The lesion healed nicely. They didn’t start itching until the very end pretty much after they healed. Or they no longer looked like canker sores. I’ve tested negative for all I the stds. Thoughts please. I have photos of the lesions. They may be hard to see with the photos. Last time you mentioned they were to blurry. If you look on the center you should see three crator like from the sores in a triangle form. I don’t know if that would help. But I’m hoping to get better clarification from you. Since that did not happen last time. I may have posted way too many things. So I have tried to condense it for you. Thanks. -

I like a final HSV 2 antibody test 16 weeks after any possible exposure. You are only at 10 weeks, is that correct? If I have hsv1 is it possible to be more resistant ?
More resistant to what? To being infected with HSV 2? No, you would not be more resistant to HSV 2 but if you acquired HSV 2, your symptoms would be more subtle. The skin to skin contact was very minimal and brief. I know I need to be checked again at the 16 week mark. But are my odds of not having it based on what I told you very likely it’s a true negative ? Or should I be very concerned ?
Given that 70% of people with HSV 2 infection will test positive at the 6 weeks mark, I think the odds of you not having HSV 2 are definitely in your favor.
Stress and hormones do not cause lesions. Whether any of these drugs cause lesions is unclear to me, but not that I know of.
I hope I answered all of your questions this time.

Previously I had posted a question in regards to the accuracy of a pcr test conducted from the lesion. I had cleaned it a couple of times prior to going to an urgent care doc to having it tested. I used hydrogen peroxide 24 hours prior to having the lesion tested. It was the forth day from noticing the lesion or I could say three days from picking at it. That I saw the doc. You had asked me what the time frame was from cleaning the lesion to having it tested. The results from the test came back negative both for hsv1 and hsv2. My question was using the peroxide prior to the testing, could that produce a false negative test? They used the pcr test. I was told it’s 90% acurate.
Also, gain I understand the 16 week testing period. I am just wondering are my odds of having it low based on the <.2 test result that came back ?
Were you able to make see the crater like whole in the picture I submitted. They or located smack dab In the middle. Would that be something that would be consitant looking of a herpes lesion healing?
Is it normal to feel a lot of itching in that area if you did have herpes, after the lesion healed ?
Thank you again for your time with all of this. I am just hoping my odds of not having it are better than actually having it.
I will rested this Friday as that will be at the 12 week mark. If my results don’t change would you think I would be ok ? Should I worry if the results rise greater then 1.0 for example?

If you used the hydrogen peroxide within an hour of swabbing, you could impact the PCR, yes, I think that is possible.
Also, gain I understand the 16 week testing period. I am just wondering are my odds of having it low based on the <.2 test result that came back ? I can't tell you that, I don't know. Were you able to make see the crater like whole in the picture I submitted. They or located smack dab In the middle. Would that be something that would be consitant looking of a herpes lesion healing? Yes, I can barely make out the ulcer. It could be a herpes lesion, yes, but is too unclear to know much for certain. Is it normal to feel a lot of itching in that area if you did have herpes, after the lesion healed ? Yes, it is Thank you again for your time with all of this. I am just hoping my odds of not having it are better than actually having it. Terri

Thank you again for this forum and taking the time to answer questions.
I am concerned about the false negative testing. I did not get the swab test with in 42 hours. I had it done with in 72 hours. The lesion was still wet. I had cleaned it 24 hours prior to getting it tested with hydrogen peroxide. Would this impact the testing results at all?
I’m waiting for results of my third blood test. My doc does the herpes select.
Tested negative for both hsv 1 and hsv 2. Once in the 23rd of May and June 13. I have a baseline at least. When someone that tests for herpes before the 16 weeks am I safe to assume that if the results keep coming back the same that I have better odds of not having hsv2?
I’ve read other posts and have read that once someone is tested and the igg misses the virus. Then the virus will not likely ever pick it up. How often does that happen ?I’m curious to know how much time does it really take to get infected from the virus. I was under the assumption that it would be the second the skin came into contact with the virus. But I’ve also read that 10 mins or less is really low risk. Generally what is the time frame. Or does it just very from person to person?
I ask because the contact was less then ten minutes and I washed myself after.I’ve been living with not knowing if I have this virus or not. Both doc thought the lesion was herpes. I can’t think of anything else. When I initially got the outbreak when I pick that it it kind of became a blood blister. I think I read somewhere that the virus does not bleed or am I misinformed?
Pcr test and blood test conducted right around 8 to 10 weeks. May 23
Another blood test done June 13 right around 11 to 13 weeks.
Test results the same. Hsv 1 positive hsv2 negative.I have had some itchiness in the area where the sore were. But not just there other places as well. I’m thinking it would be from not shaving as often. I am getting some white bumps in the vulva area. But nothing is coming of it that it almost looks like it’s where the hair folicules are.
I am right around the 16 week mark and I am hoping for reassurance, as I will probably hear from you before I get the results back.
In your opinion is my risk of having the virus relatively low. Say 85 % to 95% not having it.Thanks again to your assisstance.

The hydrogen peroxide could have impacted the swab test results yes
In my experience, once the antibody test misses the infection, assuming enough time has passed for accuracy, it continues to miss it, yes. The western blot may provide more clarity.
There is no specific time frame it takes to get infected, but certainly it could happen in 10 minutes of intercourse. 15 second? Likely not
I suspect that your test will still be negative for HSV 2 at 16 weeks.
Are you certain that the person has HSV 2, not just genital herpes that could be HSV 1? I know you said you had a cold sore – can you describe that for me? I’m wondering if that was for certain a cold sore.Terri

How often would you say that the antibodies are missed ? Are there any statics with that? I imagine fairly low ?
I am certain it is hsv 2. The infected person contacted the virus in 2013. Went in with lesions, and a blood test was drawn. I made him double check and the results where positive for hsv2. There wasn’t much contact less then 5 mins I would say. He had antiviral medicines as well as an ointment that is used when out breaks occur. When I confronted him about my issues. He stated that it seemed right about the time he may have been having an out break. I really can’t remember if there was any skin to skin contact. My skin was really irritated from peppermint soap. I heard that peppermint is something hat can help kill viruses in contact. He mentioned that he wasn’t sure but claimed that he was tested positive for hsv1. No oral was conducted. My experience with the cold sore I had years ago. From what I remember when I started the break out my skin around my lips were irritated and started to burn and itch. Blisters begin to form and they were not like pimples at all. The sore was painful and itchy. A yellowish puss leaked from the sore. And would crust over then break open again and crust over and leak fluids. The sore was extremely itchy and not comfortable at all. It was on the bottom half of my lips. I went to urgent care. The doc didn’t test the lesion. However, stated this was herpes. Told me how to care for it and prescribed me valtrex and left it at that. I took as prescribed and left it at that. There have been a few times were the area that was infected would start to itch and sting a little. I think I have only had one other outbreak. That was ten years ago. When I was cleaning that area I felt a bump and it felt a little tender to the touch. I left it along for a few days and then decided it must be an ingrown hair. When I squeezed it the area was somewhat firm almost a little hard like. Just tender. Not painful or itchy at all. It formed like a small blood blister and bleed just a little. Not much so I took a needle to see if the hair was hiding just under the skin. it bled there was no puss just watery discharge with blood. That’s when I cleaned it with the peroxide. I also put an anti bacterial ointment on it. It wasn’t really uncomfortable or painful and didn’t itch. Touching the sore didn’t hurt either. I remember with the cold sore it hurt to touch it a little. When I went in that’s when I noticed to smaller lesions so that was a little concerning for me. I don’t remember that initially. But at the beginning I was not as concerned. When the doc at urgent care took a sample that was a little painful. It didn’t experience and itching or soreness I ‘d examine my underwear at the end of the day to see if there was any fluid from the area and there was none. It didn’t itch until well after it started to heal. The area itches sometimes. I don’t shave as often. I had laser hair removal. But the hair is starting to grow -

Well, I think the face that the swab was negative, and the antibody test was negative and the contact was minimal if at all suggests no HSV 2. It does sound like your cold sore was really a cold sore and lucky you no recurrences for 10 years so I also doubt HSV 1.
The only options now are the western blot and waiting to see if this comes up again and having it swab tested right away.
