Hi Terri,
I’m a 23 year old F and had unprotected sex with someone twice before getting tested. I was tested the first time three months after having sex but no hsv test was done. I went and got retested 5 months (22 weeks) after having sex and was told I was positive for hsv. My test results were
Hsv 1 Igg: negative
Hsv 2 Igg: negative
Hsv 1/2 IgM: positive (2.14)
I don’t really know where to go from here or if the results were just a false positive. Would it be better to eventually get the western blot test? I’m just confused about my test results and have very bad anxiety over it.
I also forgot to mention I’ve never had any symptoms, I just felt the need to get tested after the unprotected sex to be safe!
You should ignore the IgM completely and only use the IgG test to know about your herpes status here.
Terri
