I just got my test results from a blood test I had yesterday through labcorp. My HSV-2 Type Spec Ab, IgG w/Rflx number was 2.62 and my 163006 HSV-2 IgG Supplemental Test came back NEGATIVE
My last encounter with my last partner was approximately 2 months ago, and we had been sexually active since February of 2021. I have never had a genital outbreak or symptoms that I was aware of, my Hsv 1 results came back positive at 2.81, which was not surprising as I’ve had cold sores from a young age. Should I do a follow up test, or is the negative supplemental a sign of a negative test result?
Thank you
I have a new partner, and we had unprotected sex yesterday, what is the risk to her at this point?
So there is quite good agreement between people who get a supplemental negative on the IgG test and people who get a negative western blot, when they do both tests. I think you should feel encouraged about the negative supplemental test. I do have concerns when the supplemental is positive but even then there is poor agreement between people who get a positive supplemental. I now have 96 people who have positive supplemental tests from LabCorp and negative western blots. So I don’t trust a positive supplemental. But that’s not you. We can always do a western blot if you wish you or you can work with your own provider to get that but for now, I feel optimistic about your negative supplemental test.
