Hi, I had sex with a condom with a new person who is not my partner. I’m in a relationship but was unfaithful. Out of precaution and against my physicians recommendation, I did a full STD panel and showed up positive at 3.1 IGG for HSV2 10 days after this encounter.

My questions are, could I test positive at this level so soon after sex with a condom (10 days after incident)?

I have no symptoms so far and my physician told me it wasn’t possible that I had just been exposed if I tested at that level and that it’s a possible false positive or I’ve had asymptomatic herpes for some time.

Also I’ve been obsessively examining myself ever since. If I had an outbreak wouldn’t it be obviously painful.

Throwing this in there – I had shingles a few years ago all over my body. I know this is another virus but wondering if that could trigger anything on a test

Please let me know what your opinion is.

      Thank you

I doubt that you would be at that index value 10 days after a sexual counter, especially when you used a condom.
This could be a false positive and the CDC recommends that you obtain a confirmatory test, like the western blot. Or you could have a longer standing infection but I seriously doubt this is from the condom protected encounter.
