April/May 2017 I gave unprotected oral sex to a man & we had vag sex with condom 3 times
June 2017 had unprotected vag sex with him once, he withdrew.
About 7 days later he told me he was having a genital herpes OB on his shaft.Had not disclosed status before sex. Told me on a plane over Atlantic Ocean and I went into convulsing emotional shock (he 53, me 28)
Said for 20 yrs he had multiple genital OB/yr, but had not had an OB for 3 yrs prior to this OB.
We kissed during his genital OB. Now learned this risks oral shedding – he has lip scars. I’ve never had a cold sore.
About 2 wks post unprotected sex I had a red streak across my clitoris. Very red and hurting, over tender. No broken skin. Lasted maybe a week. Felt hay fever type symptoms.
Prayed streak was just mini infection streak from anxiously squeezing the natural oily bumps around my vagina after he told me, and that cold was reaction to travel.
1 mos post sex, HSV2 Blood test neg
4 mos post, onset of persistent nerve pain into groin & down left leg into foot (never experienced before) with vaginal infection/cloudy watery discharge/frequent need to urinate. Tried to stretch leg but no help. Lasted about a week.
During my period that month, under hot sun, got tingling on classic locations on each side of lower lip with a tiny red dot & puffing in each spot. Applied abreva for 1.5 days. Cream ran out, tingling returned. Went to Planned PH and got 10 days antiviral.
Then my doctor RXd 1 yr course valacyclovir to repress. He said 1 yr would repress to 98% chance no symptoms or transmission. IGG neg HSV1&2.
I began 500mg 2x day for 6 mos
6 mos post sex (3 mos into antiviral) IGG neg hsv1&2. Don’t know exact numbers. Doc lowered me to 500mg/day.
Went to new GYN on 3/22 for BV infection. She suggested I stop antiviral bc stress to liver/maybe no need.
Stopped antivirals on 3/23
Is this wise?
I want to protect myself/Future baby/partner as much as I can
When/how can I accurately test?

You should be off of antiviral therapy for at least three months prior to obtaining an IgG type specific antibody test. It sounds to me like some people have jumped to conclusions here that will make an accurate diagnosis a bit more complicated– That is the taking of antiviral therapy for an extended period of time without any firm diagnosis of genital herpes
