I recently had my first symptom ever of hsv-2, about two weeks after the first time I had sex with a new partner. Swab came back positive. I want to know If I do a blood test now and it comes back negative, whether that would indicate the infection is recent?

Yes, that’s what that would indicate but it may already be positive.
