Hello Terri,
I’m looking for your advice on my situation. For the past 4 weeks I have been seeing and dating a woman, she is 52 and I am 62. On the occasions we have been together we have been intimate but no sexual contact took place, until yesterday. While at her house one thing led to another and we soon found ourselves naked and in bed. We had had some discussions about past relationships prior to yesterday and I was prepared to use a condom just to be safe. However, during foreplay I went down on her and performed unprotected cunnilingus. For whatever reason, I was not able to get an erection, and this led to frustration on both our parts. At no time did I insert my penis in her vagina, although I know there were a couple of occasions it brushed against the area of her vagina as we moved about or cuddled. Any contact would have just been just seconds in time. My giving of oral sex was the only real sexual contact; although she touched my penis she never did anything orally. After about 30 minutes and being highly frustrated we called it a day and I left. Two hours later I got a text from her that was clearly intended for another man and left no doubt in my mind she was sexually involved with this person, which I was unaware of. When I responded to her text and asked for clarification I got no response even though I can she had read it. Still no answer today and I have not inquired further. I should add that there was nothing during our foreplay that caused me any concern about her health.
So I am asking for your advice on being tested for STD’s. What STD’s testing should I seek out and when or should I just wait and see if I develop any type of symptoms?
Thank you

STD acquisition in this situation would be quite unlikely but not zero. If you want to be the most cautious that you can be about this situation I would recommend a full STD screen, including herpes 1 and 2, chlamydia and gonorrhea from the throat only, syphilis, hepatitis C and B (if not vaccinated already for hep B). This testing should be done at all once. I would wait two weeks for the gonorrhea and chlamydia tests but the herpes test and the other as well should be done at 12-16 weeks post exposure.
Honestly, I think acquiring something from this encounter would be really unlikely but not impossible.
Too bad about your situation – it must have felt not good to see that text. The fact that she had another partner “at the ready”is a bit disconcertingTerri

Thank you for the information. I’ll wait the two weeks and see if anything happens and make the decision then. To be sure I was stunned. I would not be worried had it not been for that revelation.

Yup, I totally get it. Not a classy act, for sure. And on top of the temporary erection issues, it must have also been a psychological blow. Two hours later, not nice.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.
