Hello and thank you for your service.
I have never had HSV 2 symptoms. I have had monogamous sex with the same partner weekly for 10 or 15 years. Is is possible/probable/common to have had HSV 2 for all that time without knowing it(I have never had any reason to be tested) and passing it along to my partner without her knowing it (no symptoms)…until now… when she may be showing symptoms. She now has a lesion in the back of her mouth just above entry to her throat throat. It is painful, white surrounded by red. Could this be attributable to an exposure to either of us as long as 15 years ago. (I have HSV 1 on my lip…perhaps I have mistaken and outbreak of HSV 1 for an outbreak of HSV 2? No symptoms on genitals for either of us).
I’m not sure I expressed that well let me try again. Premise: me contracting it say 15 years ago, no exposure since then, and my partner showing symptoms for the first time now. My partner now is showing a white lesion in the back part of her mouth…by her throat.
Wait – why would you think this is HSV 2 and not HSV 1, which you know that you have?
It is possible that you could have had HSV 2 for years and didn’t know it, but I have no reason to think that this particular throat lesions is HSV 2. Has she seen a clinician to have it swab tested?
Terri
I had a test that came out .91 for HSV 2. can HSV 1 influence an HSV 2 test.
If you look closely at the results, you will likely see a “<" sign in front of the 0.91, which is negative. Terri
