      Hi Terri

Not sure if I have any qs left. If not just let me know I’ll pay
We’ve spoken before. You helped me a lot last year as docs here in Ireland seem to have very limited info about coldsores. They look at me with two heads when I asked for antivirals as
      1. I don’t get them regularly
      2. Not considered a major medical emergency so just feel petty
However I managed to get them online and now I have them for onset of symptoms which helps me to at least feel like I’ve some plan if they do appear.
I am booked to go and see a cbt therapist this month too as I know often the fears are irrational. There are a lot worse things that I could have I know

I just had one question about transmission. I don’t kiss my children. Lots of hugs etc but I’ve just chose not to.

My daughter is now 4 years old. If my mother kissed her when she was a baby (with a scabbed over coldsore) how likely is it at this stage that she’ll get one. I know most symptoms appear by 20 days. Could she still get symptoms when she’s older ?

Also do you think there will be a therapeutic vaccine in my life time (I’m 29) or will it just end up being prophylactic?

If you don’t have a cold sore on your lip, you can certainly kiss your child on her cheek without any worries.

If your daughter was going to get cold sores from her grandmother, you would have noticed it by now, or when it happened. I think it is very unlikely she will all of a sudden get cold sores from this encounter when she is older.

I’m sure in your lifetime there will be huge progress with HSV treatments or cures.
