Questions regarding transmission! new relationship had sex a total of 5 times in the last 30 days, all protected. Last day being the 23 of April. We thought to get tested before removing condoms. He came back positive for hsv2 index almost 9. I came back negative. I would be on my 10th day after possible exposure. His last partner was 9 months ago, we’re sure it was her.
I’m feeling every feeling and totally in my head.
I know the incubation period is 2-12 days, but how often does it go past that? Like will I experience symptoms on the 15 day? Or is unlikely?
Based on us having sex 5 times in the last 30 days, what are my chances on contracting it?
When’s the earliest I can test? I’ve read the IGM tests for new infection, can I test for that while I form antibodies for the IGG. I fear I’ll test a false positive and my world will be upside down until I take the IGG just for it to be negative.
Bumping this so it doesn’t get lost.
Sunday- which would be 22 days after last exposure, I experienced flu liked symptoms. Fever that reached 102, headache, chills worst body aches I’ve ever experienced. By the next morning felt completely fine- and no lesions. Fever was gone as well.
Could this be related to a primary outbreak? Or completely unrelated?
Sorry, I have COVID and wasn’t working
I can’t tell from your post if the 5 times was condom protected or not.
IF people are going to have symptoms with a new infection, it happens within 2-10 days. Not everyone who gets infected with HSV 2 gets symptoms right away but can still be infected.
If condoms were used, they reduce transmission by 96% from men to women.
IGM tests are terrible and are being removed from all large labs in 2022. Don’t do it
you could get an IgG test at 6 weeks out – 70% of those who will eventually test positive by IgG test will test positive by then.
If you have no sores or symptoms, I do think infection is less likely. I don’t think that something that happens 22 days out is likely to be herpes.
