› Forums › Herpes Questions › Transmission through spittle?
Terri, we spoke Tues, regarding my concern about the herpes simplex 1-Alzheimer’s link. Sometimes when I’m speaking in close, face to face proximity with my partner, spittle inadvertently comes from her mouth, which happens to all of us. Sometimes the spittle gets into my eye or my lips. She is not on an antiviral and doesn’t want to be on one.
What are the chances that a drops of spittle from her in my eye or on my mouth could transmit herpes 1 if she has breakout mouth sores at the time? Also: What are the chances, in this situation, of transmission if she has no sores but is possibly shedding? Have there been any studies concerning this?
Also regarding saliva: she licks her fingers as she is preparing food, such as salad, and I am concerned that this could transmit herpes 1. Any studies pertinent to this question? What is your view?
Thank you much,
Joe
We have talked since you posted this. You know that i think the things that you describe do not present any real risk of transmission to you.
