Hi Terri,
I recently had a situation that concerned me. I was bending over and my pants fell low exposing about the upper half of my butt crack. As I was bent over a friend thought it would be funny to stick their finger in their mouth then swipe into the upper half of my butt crack with the same finger they’d just stuck in their mouth.
1. Does this pose a risk of herpes 1 or 2 transmission either with or without a cold sore present?
2. Would the upper half of the butt crack area be considered a vulnerable area or would the skin not be thin enough to be a concern?
This situation does not present a risk for acquiring HSV at all. The skin of the gluteal cleft (as we call the butt crack) is too thick for virus to penetrate unless the skin has been broken there.
