Hi Terri,
I have a question about transmission via towels and clothing and touching those items after they’ve been in contact with another person’s active sore.
1. Can hsv 1/2 be transmitted if I touch someone else’s cotton underwear immediately after they had been worn with an active outbreak, then I touch/rub my vagina with the same hand that touched the virus on their underwear seconds before?
2. Similarly, Can hsv 1/2 be transmitted if someone wipes an outbreak with a towel and then someone else immediately touches the towel with their hand and then touches/rubs their vagina with the same hand?

Hi Terri,
One last question:
3. Can herpes 1/2 be transmitted if one person touches a sore with their hand, then touches another person’s hand, and that second person touches their mouth or vagina?

Hi Terri,
Posting again since it looks like my questions may have been missed.

3. Can herpes 1/2 be transmitted if one person touches a sore with their hand, then touches another person’s hand, and that second person touches their mouth or vagina?
4. Are any of these methods of transmission more likely for children ages 7-10 years old?

NoHerpes is a sexually transmitted disease, if HSV 2 and is not transmitted in the ways that you describe. Transmission via actively used sex toys is the only possibility and is remote in itself. Oral herps can be transmitted via kissing, via oral sex and I also discourage the sharing of lipsticks and lip gloss.
