Hi Terri,
I wrote the post titled Asymptomatic and General Transmission Questions a few days ago. I am definitely aware that I was developing some unhealthy patterns and understand the point of view that your answers were coming from. I am not sure why this all of a sudden started becoming a issue other than lack of understanding about HSV2. So I am trying to learn and better understand my situation in order to stop the thinking and be able to move on with life. Would you be able to help me understand more about HSV2? If so I seem to be confused on where exactly the virus sheds from and where the outbreaks can occur. From what I can understand the outbreak area encompasses the Asymptomatic shedding area? Also I seem to be focused on spreading the virus around everywhere and trying to understand why it doesn’t spread everywhere or it does but doesn’t matter enough to affect others?
Thanks,

So the virus can only be shed from very thin skin – for women, that is the labia, cervix, perineum and anus. For men it is the shaft of the penis and anus. However, outbreaks can occur in any area covered by a pair of boxer shorts. But, for example, you could get an outbreak on the buttocks but the skin of the buttocks is too thick for asymptomatic viral shedding to occur. Does that help?

YES. Thanks. I had described in the earlier post about the bottom of my shirt sometimes coming into contact w/ my genitals when using the bathroom. Why doesn’t this seem to be a issue as far as spreading the virus around?

Because the virus doesn’t live on shirts! It only lives on humans.

So in the big picture of things why is it that the virus does not transmit through casual contact, things , clothing, etc and should not be a concern other than direct (sexual) contact with a infected area?

The virus needs very thin skinned to penetrate the body. It needs a warm and moist environment with human cells to exist. This environment is found only on the human body and for herpes only in areas of very thin skin.
